The Science Fiction Critic was an early zine published by Claire P. Beck. Its first issue was a four-page pamphlet called Science Fiction Review. Its second-to-last issue was co-edited with Groo Beck, who took over editing entirely for the final issue.

Reviews

Science Fiction Critic, published bimonthly by the Futile Press... at ten cents per copy. The Critic is a neatly printed magazine of fourteen pages; a "slick". The May, 1937 issue contains an interesting and informative article, "Between Other Covers", by Donn Brazier, Louis C. Smith's rambling and fascinating column, "Fantasiana", and an article by Sam Moskowitz bearing the seemingly impertinent title, "Was Weinbaum Great?" We found it an altogether interesting and much-improved issue.

The Amateur Correspondent #1 pg 27. May 1937.

CLAIRE P. BECK: ...Issues most worthwhile American amateur fanmagazine extant.

Dale Hart: Personality Parade. Sept 1938.

The first several issues of this magazine were mimeographed but Claire P. Beck, the publisher, purchased printing equipment and printed the magazine. Altho rather unreliable at the first, it finally became a quite reliable and interesting magazine commencing with the December '36 issue. However, after eight more issues, Beck finally discontinued the magazine. It served its purpose, however, in its short and hectic career.
