Rusty Hevelin was a fan, fanzine publisher, collector, huckster, and all-around presence.
He was active in fandom beginning in the 1940s, publishing his own fanzines as well as contributing to many others. He was Fan Guest of Honor and Toastmaster at numerous conventions. His first Worldcon was Denvention 1 in 1941, which makes him a member of Second Fandom.
His fanzine and fanworks collection is now at the University of Iowa's Special Collection Department, and was acquired as part of the Fan Culture Preservation Project.
