The Editorial in All Three Issues
Dear Reader,
First, let me begin by emphasizing that REVELATIONS is NOT a Season 3 story .... although it does touch on certain events in that season and mentions in passing, certain characters.
That is merely history... background....
Primarily, REVELATIONS is a 'present day' story, having moved on five years from the events of Season 3.
It is a mystery/beginnings/quest/resolution story, which I hope that you will all enjoy.
It is also my own personal view and if yours differs, well .... as Mouse would say .... okay good .... okay fine ....
Ultimately, REVELATIONS is a story to be enjoyed by all BEAUTY AND THE BEAST fans, and like each of you my only desire is to keep the dream alive ....
I hope that you enjoy reading REVELATIONS as much as I enjoyed writing it .... it was a labour of love for me, and I hope that that shows in the quality of the writing.
Issue 1
Revelations 1 was published in August 1998 and contains 195 pages.
Five years after 3S, Catherine is alive but remains in a coma. Flyers and advertisements start blanketing the city offering a reward for information about an infant entrusted to the care of Anna Pater outside St. Vincent's Hospital in 1955. [1]
From the zine's afterword:
I was greatly inspired to write this story after seeing the trilogy .... most especially CEREMONY OF INNOCENCE, and having used the powerful images and dialogue from that episode to write flashback scenes, of Vincent's recollections of that terrible time, feel that I should thank George R.R. Martin for his influence, and for creating such strong and provocative images.
The imagery created and the words used to describe Vincent's 'birth' gave me the idea for REVELATlONS, and I trust that in using some of them here, I have created equally powerful images.
Issue 2
Revelations 2 was published in September 1998 and contains 78 pages.
Father goes Above to meet with the woman who is searching for Vincent and learns that she is his sister. [2]
From the editorial:
It would not be right if I did not offer my thanks to Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton for inspiring me to return to writing, and for portraying characters that really are alive, vibrant and worth caring about. Thanks also to Ron Koslow for creating such a wonderfully romantic and heart warming series as BEAUTY AND THE BEAST - and although I came to it late .... at this point in my life I am able to appreciate all that is good and endearing about Vincent, Catherine, Father, Mary, Mouse .... etc.
Issue 3
Revelations 3 was published in October 1998 and contains 121 pages.
As Vincent meets the sister that he never knew about and learns from his mother's journals about his origins, Catherine begins her climb out of the coma she's been in for over five years. [3]
