puppylovers was a term used to designate fans of the ship Remus/Sirius, also a way to identify those who followed the ship when it was first called puppylove in the mid-2000s.
It seems to have fallen into disuse of favor as the ship was being renamed[note 1] at the same time that puppylove also started designating others pairings like Sirius/Hermione -- according to FictionAlley's SCUSA.[1]
It's an analogy to the fact that both characters are at some point puppies, due to their transformations into werewolf and dog by Lupine's lycanthropy and Black's animagus form.
