Ptyx is a Brazilian fanwriter and author from Harry Potter fandom.
Ptyx is a hapax, created by the French Symbolist poet Stéphanne Mallarmé for his famous "Ix sonnet" - he needed a rhyme for "Phénix" (Phoenix), "Styx" and "onyx".Ptyx is a non-word, but echoes the Greek for “fold” or “shell”.
Even if one does not give it a precise meaning, the invented word ptyx does what it is supposed to do: it represents a mysterious object that never existed, that has now disappeared, but that has an individual resonance like the poem itself.
