Blair needs to get away from everything in his life; to start anew. If that includes Jim, then so be it. I really like this story on SOO many levels; there's lust, and, stupidity, jealousy, misunderstandings and so much more that make me drooooool.

Summary: The title doesn't refer to this month's theme, but to a little town that actually appeared in canon. It's also the place that Blair moves to after turning down the badge offer from Simon. He doesn't exactly move to Pinecrest but to the nearby Watumsa reservation, where he becomes a one-room school house teacher. Although he has any number of reasons for leaving, it's primarily because he's in love with Jim and has overheard something that convinces him that Jim is unattainable.

With typical bad timing, Jim arrives home hours after Blair has left, determined to confess his love for Blair. At first he considers Blair leaving a betrayal and is peevishly happy to abide by Blair's wish not to be contacted. But eventually he starts to suspect that there was more to Blair's leaving than his surface reason.

In pining stories, usually it's one or the other or both who are pining. This is a bit more unusual because there's a third person who's pining, although who, for whom, and what they do about it I'll leave for you to discover.

Reccer's Notes: Although this is a romance, it's by no means sweetness and light. Read the warnings before you decide to jump in, but know that Rentgirl2 writes good, meaty stories that are angsty and complex but balanced.

At her now-defunct site there was a third story that hasn't made it to AO3 yet. I wouldn't consider it a sequel; the author describes it as a standalone story in the universe. It was written for a My Mongoose Ezine and I've included the link. Enjoy.
