Pilalrs of Love is an anthology of primarily fanfiction featuring Ace Attorney characters and centered around the theme of the four Greek words for love.

About

Pillars of Love was announced on April 15, 2022, as a zine for writers in the Ace Attorney fandom[1]. The project would be centered around four of the Greek words for love: eros, philia, storge, and agape. Interest checks opened from April 25 to May 25, 2022[2]. Contributor applications for writers opened from June 1 to June 30, 2022[3]. Results were sent out on July 8, 2022[4].

Preorderse opened on January 9, 2023, with the following pricing tiers[5]:

  • The Prologue ($8 USD) - Digital DGS/TGAA Book
  • The Prologue ($15 USD) - Digital AA Book,
  • The Prologue ($20 USD) - AA and DGS/TGAA Books (PDF)
  • The Original ($30 USD) - Physical AA Book, Digital AA Book, Additional Stretch Goals
  • The Classics ($15 USD) - Physical DGS/TGAA Book, Digital DGS/TGAA Book, Additional Stretch Goals
  • The Duology ($40 USD) - Physical AA Book, Physical DGS/TGAA Book, Digital AA Book, Digital DGS/TGAA Book, Additional Stretch Goals

Stretch golas included a die-cut sticker at 25 physical orders, a bookmark at 50 physical orders, and a print at 75 physical orders[6][7]. All goals were unlocked by February 23, 2023[8]. Additionally, a collaboration deal of magnets were offered to fans who preordered physical copies of both Pillars of Love and Where I Can Follow, another Ace Attorney project that was running preorders around the same time[9]. Starting on February 14, 2023, a share campaign was run, offering an additional sticker sheet to all physical orders if the share campaign post reached a set amount of likes and shares[10]. The share campaign was completed on February 22, 2023[11]. Preorders closed on March 1, 2023, with a reported total of over 100 orders[12].

The project's social media account gave periodic updates on the progress of production. Zine proofs had to be reordered more than once, resulting in the organizers considering a different printer and leading to delays[13][14][15]. Meanwhile, all merchandise produciton was completed and received by the organizers by June 28, 2023[16]. The zines arrived by July 15, with some additional need for reprints[17].

Physical orders began shipping after July 31, 2023[18]. All shipping was completed by August 16, 2023, including digital orders[19]. Leftover sales opened from September 26, 2023, with an expected end date of October 26, 2023, provided supplies last until then[20]. Additional discounts of 20% and 50% were offered throughout this period[21][22].

The project was declared complete on December 27, 2023, with a post showing the receipt of a $2590.83 USD donation to the Indigenous Literary Foundation[23].

This was such a cool project to be able to contribute to, and the resulting BOOK of a zine is absolutely gorgeous (and feels great to hold, too—insert my gushing about the paper here).
