Pavitr Prabhakar, known as Spider-Man, is a character in the Spider-Verse franchise. The character was first developed for the Spider-Man India comics line in 2004, but most fandom is about the version of the character introduced in the 2023 animated movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Pavitr Prabhakar (Earth-50101) was introduced in the Spider-Man India comics line, first published in India in 2004. The series ran for four issues. In this series, Pavtir's love interest is named Meera Jain, and he battles an in-universe version of Doctor Octopus. The principal antagonist is Nalin Oberoi, who is equivalent to Norman Osborn.
Following the release of Across the Spider-Verse, Marvel subsequently announced the return of Spider-Man India for "his first mini-series in almost twenty years",[1] written by Nikesh Shukla with art by Abhishek Malsuni, Scott Hanna, and Neeraj Menon. Issue #1 was released on 14th June, 2023.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
In the Spiderverse animated trilogy, Pavitr Prabhakar is introduced in the second instalment, Across the Spider-Verse. He lives in Mumbhattan, and his girlfriend is Gayatri Singh. He has an uneasy alliance with Inspector Singh (Gayatri's father) in his superhero persona, who is also the police captain from Pavitr's canon event.
Pavitr is a member of the cross-universe Spider-Society, and is friends with Gwen Stacy and Hobie Brown. Fans have praised the animated character design for Pavitr for the creative way it built on the original Spider-Man India costume and concept,[2] such as by incorporating the ancient Indian martial art of Kalaripayattu.
