PatronusCharm is a Harry Potter fanfiction archive. It is a "sister site" and archive of the Dark Lord Potter Forums. The archive's FAQ states:
- "Our goal is to provide excellent service for our userbase while not sacrificing on features. We also wish to only serve the best stories...stories written by the typical junior high girl will be deleted in short order."[1]
Planning for the site started by early 2007. The site went online on December 29, 2007 and opened for beta on January 1, 2008.
As of March 2015, there were 392 stories by 206 authors on the archive. The site went into read-only mode in 2018 and, as of September 2023, bears the following message on its homepage:
- PatronusCharm was once a hustling, bustling fanfiction site with big dreams, but has since been relegated to the clutches of history. This site is a read-only version of PatronusCharm as it existed in 2018 when the original site gasped its last. This archive freezes 377 stories in time.[2]
The site was last updated 1 May 2014.
Export issues
- Due to the way the content is served (using Javascript to fetch the chapter data), most epub export utilities fail, including those made to support most fanfiction websites. https://patronus2epub.tiiny.site/ was developed to address this issue, and is the only known utility to work with this website.
