Paramore is an American rock band started in 2004 in Tennessee, which moves between the genres pop to rock, emo, and new wave. With six albums already released, the band has had different formations over the years, with Hayley Williams the band's only permanent member.[note 1]

[Hayley Williams]
The name 'Paramore' came from the maiden name of one band member's mum,[1]
[Hayley Williams]
[…] and we really liked the way it sounded. We looked it up about a year later and found out that it means “secret lover” and “for love” which we thought was really cool and represented us well.[2]

The members initially came together in 2002 after Hayley moved to Franklin, Tennessee and met the Farro brothers, they came together when most of them were still teenagers between 12 and 14 years old.

Even at such a young age the band's songs were used as a soundtrack for games or films. In 2008 the song "Decode" was the lead single for the novel-based Twilight film,[3] and was released on October 1, 2008, on the Paramore Fan Club site as well as Stephenie Meyer's website[4][5] whit the music video officially premiered on November 3.[6][7] "I Caught Myself" another Paramore's song also featured on the film's soundtrack.[3]

The band's popularity with well-known songs as soundtracks in different media led to the beginning of using them and other songs in fanworks such as vids or fics. In addition to the fandom based on their songs there is a small but significant presence of RPF with other band stars.
