Owain is a second-generation unit from Fire Emblem Awakening. He also appears in Fire Emblem Fates under the alias of Odin.

History

Fire Emblem Awakening

Owain is the son of Lissa, making him the nephew of Chrom and the cousin of Lucina. The identity of his father varies depending on who the player choose to pair Lissa with. If Lissa marries the male Avatar, he will also be the older brother of a female Morgan. The most popular father for him is Lon'qu.

Owain is originally from an alternate timeline in which the parent characters all died and Grima slowly began to take over the continent. Owain himself lost his father to a Risen attack, where his father died to protect him, leaving Owain alone to deal with the guilt and trauma of feeling powerless. This is revisited in their support conversations, when his father is sniped at by an archer while trying to protect him and Owain breaks down crying.[1]

He came back to the present timeline with Lucina and the rest of their friends to change the future, hoping to save their parents' lives in the process.

Fire Emblem Fates

After the events of Awakening, Owain, Severa, and Inigo travel to the world of Fire Emblem Fates at the request of Anankos. The three of them serve the nobles of Nohr under fake aliases. In Owain's case, he serves the Nohrian prince Leo under the name "Odin".

In Fates, Odin can get married to most other female characters and have a daughter, Ophelia. Ophelia shares a lot of traits with Odin, including a specialty for dark magic and a love for the dramatic.

Common Pairings

Owain is very popular in the Fire Emblem community.

His most popular Awakening pairings are with Brady, Inigo, and Cynthia. His most popular Fates pairings are with Niles, Laslow, and Elise.

Fanon and Common Tropes in Fanworks

Owain falls firmly under the chuunibyou trope, with his loud and theatrical behavior.
