Out of Balance is a Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan story by Anne Higgins.
Summary: What happens when a bond is not equal?
Notes:
This story has been in an editor's hold box for at least a year, and I've decided it was time to get it out of there. There's nothing particularly original about it, especially now, but it wasn't fresh when I wrote it. It grew out of a scene in "Letters" where Obi-Wan briefly suffers the effects of the bond he shares with Qui-Gon being out of balance. I wondered what would happen if the lack of balance were permanent, and this is the result.
Recs and Reviews
This story has angst like whoa. Obi-Wan manages to save Qui-Gon by pouring as much healing energy as he could into the dying man, including his own life force. This forms a life bond between them, but because of the circumstances in which it was made, it's a lot different for Obi-Wan than it is for Qui-Gon.[1]
