An original universe is the given reality described in canon. Such nomenclature is widely used by fans of comics or stories that canonically have more than one timeline. Some examples are series with plots of time travel, alternative universe, reboot and others. Fans of Marvel or DC comics/movies often use the term to differentiate their characters' first stories from their alternate versions, to indicate that a given plot or information is from the original universe (whether it is the main one or another alternative timeline) to contextualize differences between this or that for the fandom.
