The Organization for Transformative Works Fanzine and Fan Fiction Collection is a collection of fanzines, fanfiction, and other fannish artifacts spanning the years 1979-2013 that were donated to the University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections via the Organization for Transformative Works.

About

From the Collection Overview on the University of Iowa Libraries website:[1]

The OTW Collection consists of fanzines and pieces of fan fiction written and/or collected by various fans and acquired for Special Collections via the Organization for Transformative Works. Most of the materials in the collection consist of publications related to different genre media properties, although there are a few pieces of original fiction as well.

Much of the fan fiction is of the "slash" variety. "Slash" refers to fan fiction that is sexually explicit, and same-sex in nature. In slash sex and sexuality are often the centers of the story, rather than the more conventional adventures featured in more traditional fan fiction. A few of the materials are what is called "real person" fan fiction, that is, fiction in which the characters are celebrities or other real people.

This collection is expected to continue growing for some time as OTW continues to faciliate the transfer of fannish materials to Special Collections.
