Ordinary Life is a McShep story by Speranza and astolat.

The story was a winner in the Action/Adventure category of the 2008 McShep Awards. This was the first time (?) Speranza collaborated with shalott on a story, and it was the last big SGA story shalott wrote before she drifted to another fandom.[1]
Author's Notes
"This is a fairly early, Season 1-2 type story, written when going back to earth was a novelty. The impetus for the story was Shalott's annoyance at the joke that Rodney didn't have any messages on his answering machine in "Home". Rodney obviously thinks that this is unusual ("Huh! Must have been a power failure or something.") and we think he's right about that."
Reactions and Reviews
Another genre of fics I have a real weakness for is earth!fic. This is a gorgeous example, and their vacation-turned-adventure is so well crafted you can almost feel the Florida sun and smell the defense contractors. As always, everyone is exactly in character, and John flips from lazing-at-the-pool John to ruthless-killing-machine John with easy grace. Their relationship proceeds exactly the way it should and I love it all. [2]
Like anything astolat or Speranza write, the plot is fantastic & unpredictable. Also a genuinely hilarious get-together fic. [3]
The one that is vaguely James Bond-esque, with a tuxedo, gun-wielding John (Iknowright). I’ve read this dozens of times, and it is always fantastic.[4]
