"On a Trial Basis" by Belatrix Carter is 7 pages. It's a first time A/B, and Avon is Blake's first male lover. It's basically a PWP but still interesting.[1]
This is a perfectly nice, if slightly unmemorable, first-time fic - no, wait. That's slightly unfair to it. It has a really nice revelation of Avon's feelings. It's perfectly timed, and very warm (Blake has never considered being gay before... one of my favourite i.e. not favourite B/A tropes, but whatever. It's done well). Then the ending, which is literally two sentences long, comes out of nowhere and ruins the entire thing. Couldn't we have just left it potentially AU? [2]
