Asuka: The Musical

Seriously, though. How on Earth did you manage to find a song that so perfectly encapsulated Asuka's personality? Insecurity, loneliness, obsession, and escapism through presenting herself as someone driven by success rather than the fear of failure.

"cuz I feel like I'm the worst, so I always act like I'm the best"

That single sentence represents Asuka at her core.

1:38 this bit always hits me hard, because I know it's not talking about how failure in piloting the Eva means she's toast.

she's speaking about metaphorically dying after she can't fulfill her purpose; piloting an Eva. She'd become an empty shell of a person that's no use for anybody, rotting away under the sun, in an endless loop of self-loathing and not being able to accomplish anything.

It'd really be a shame if that happened, huh
