The Object Show Community (OSC) refers to the fandom surrounding various Object Shows, series that primarily feature simple anthropomorphic objects.

The “Object Show” is a cornerstone of the early internet animation scene, the first being Battle for Dream Island, which premiered on January 1st, 2010. The first episode was posted on YouTube by jacknjellify, an account owned by twin brothers Michael and Cary Huang. At the time, the brothers were 13, and had posted a few other videos before, including flash animations and marble races. The idea for BFDI had originated when the two were thinking of a different way to play rock paper scissors, and were also inspired by the cartoon Total Drama Island. BFDI follows 21 contestants, who are all objects with stick limbs and faces, as they compete in challenges for the prize, Dream Island, and are voted out by the YouTube viewers each episode. The first season of BFDI went until 2012, and has been followed up with 5 seasons so far, steadily increasing in quality and popularity.

Inanimate Insanity was the second object show, with the friend group of Adam Katz, Brian Koch, Justin Chapman, and, formerly, Taylor Grodin, being directly inspired by BFDI, and the reality TV show Survivor. Inanimate Insanity was first posted April 1st, 2011, however, a former voice actor deleted all the episodes, and they had to be reuploaded on the channel AnimationEpic. Similarly to BFDI, Inanimate Insanity has contestants compete in challenges for a prize, one million dollars, and has the viewers vote out characters, up until halfway through season 2 where they switch to the characters voting each other out. Inanimate Insanity tends to be viewed as more serious in its writing than BFDI, with intertwined and complex character arcs and plotlines. Inanimate Insanity has had 3 seasons, has a movie in the works, and has grown as a cult classic within the object show community, being the second most popular show.

There are hundreds if not thousands of object shows posted to YouTube and other social media and video sharing platforms, one of the key aspects that separates the object show community from other online fandoms is the sheer quantity of community members aiming to create their own object shows. Object Overload, The Daily Object Show, BURNER, Animatic Battle, Investigation on Object Nuclearity, ONE, and various others popped between now and 2013. The basic object show structure lends itself to easy recreation and modification, being highly approachable and, as a result, is a major point of inspiration for many creators.
