Reactions and Reviews

This story was also a debut, and a fine debut for Laura. There are few Q-loses-his-powers stories that haven't already been done, and I think that this is a novelty. The metaphor of the desert was gorgeously done. I felt that I could smell the wind, and that the personalities of the people with their individual culture were very real. The sacrifice that Q takes in order to save his life was bitter, and so ultimately Q. It didn't resort to sacchrine in order to be "good", nor to making Q a storybook villain, but rather told things as they were in all their gritty reality. [1]

Another primo story. In Which, a certain Q learns a much-needed lesson, about sacrifice, and caring, and duty and honour... Has one of the better done female original characters I'd seen in a long time -- and from a culture I have always found fascinating. A good read! [2]
