Nurarihyon no Mago (ぬらりひょんの孫), also known by its English title, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, is a fantasy shounen manga and anime series. The series focuses on the life of Rikuo Nura, a boy who is 1/4 yokai, and his training to succeed his grandfather as the head of the Nura Clan of demons. It has a strong focus on Japanese folklore with the added flair of an action/fantasy shounen series, as well as on characters and lore within the series' universe.

Fandom

The already modestly-sized fandom for the series has shrunk in size in recent years, mostly due to the series' age and the lack of a third season of anime.

Shipping

Tsurara Oikawa/Rikuo Nura is the most popular straight ship for the series and most popular overall on Archive of Our Own. On Fanfiction.net, the most popular ship is Rikuo's day form/Rikuo's night form. The second most popular pairings are Zen/Rikuo and Rihan Nura/Yohime. Gay pairings outside of Zen/Rikuo and Day!Rikuo/Night!Rikuo are not very common.

Fanfiction

Because of the series' age, most fanfiction is on Fanfiction.net only, with little on Archive of Our Own.

The Nurarihyon no Mago and Katekyou Hitman Reborn! fandoms are very close in their subject matter and share many crossovers, easily being the most popular crossover with NuraMago. Many of the most popular fanfiction involves the two series together. Inuyasha is also commonly crossed-over, but not nearly to the extent of Katekyou Hitman Reborn!.

A popular fanfiction trope for the series is the 'finding out AU', where Rikuo's whole group of friends finds out his demonic powers and night form, something that never happens in the canon series aside from a single member.

Because of the series' folklore elements, historical AUs are also incredibly popular.
