Some fans felt it controversial, citing Jim's lack of sensitivity and persistence as well as not liking how a major character is killed off.
Others were more positive:
Jim and Blair break up and, much to Jim's consternation, Blair begins dating Rafe. What I really like is the way that there is no great big reset button when Jim and Blair start dating again. The events of the story change him, just like they would change a person in real life and that makes the story more real and the characters more appealing.[1]
