Nice Guy Syndrome is a name commonly given to the behavior whereby men claim that women only go for jerks and "nice guys finish last". The subtext to these comments is generally that the speaker is a nice guy and that women owe him sex and/or love.
Both the belief that nice guys finish last and the complaints about not-actually-nice guys thinking this are common throughout geek culture and all over the internet. In fandom, "nice guy syndrome" has been used to talk about various characters and people, often ones that other fans see as genuinely nice or feminist.
