Reactions and Reviews
In this interesting 4th season SND novel, Twain's first zine writing, C's back from the Witness Protection program and hopping mad that V/D are not only lovers but D is pregnant and they're engaged to be married! V is naturally torn between his two loves. The resolution of this dilemma will probably come as a surprise to most readers. There are also unexpected developments concerning the bond and revelations about Vincent's origins, as benevolent beings from another dimension/mode of existence try to contact V through the a threshold in the Trilogy cave (damaged by Paracelsus, a menacing presence in the several flashback sections). The novel takes a sharp turn into science-fiction at the end, during a particularly poignant concluding section. The storytelling is a little ragged and uneven, but this is offset by vivid prose style, excellent characterizations, dead-on dialogue, and bounding energy. Although there's occasional sex, it's not graphic. The non-3rd-season-allergic will find this delightful reading, with much to enjoy and reflect on. [1]
