flyer from Datazine #53

Next Generation Chronicles is a gen Star Trek: TNG concordance and credit zine that has many details and trivia about the creation, production, and content of the show's episodes.

From the first issue:

The primary purpose of this fanzine is to provide my fellow fans with a comprehensive detailed program guide of "Star Trek The Next Generation." If it also helps to settle a few bets or win a few trivia contests, so much the better. I have done my very best with the resources available to me to be as accurate as possible. Due to human nature being what it is, I am sure there is probably some misinformation inadvertently included here. I would very much appreciate any constructive comments on the format or any information that would make the next printing more accurate.

Issue 1

Next Generation Chronicles 1 was published in March 1988 and contains 64 pages.

cover of issue #1, Bruce "Uncle Lou" Burr, portrays McCoy and Picard

It focuses on the episodes "Encounter at Farpoint," "The Naked Now," "Code of Honor," "The Last Outpost," "Where No One Has Gone Before," "Lonely Among Us," Justice," "The Battle," "Hide and Q," "Haven," "The Big Goodbye," "Datalore," "Angel One", "11001001," and "Too Short a Season."

From the editorial:

I would like to thank the following people without whom this fanzine would not have been possible: My fourteen year-old nephew Joe Redifer who did the inside illustrations. He very much wants to be a graphic artist when he grows up; I hope seeing his work in print for the first time will give him the incentive to continue his studies. Bruce "Uncle Lou" Burr who did the beautiful cover illustration of McCoy and Picard. "Buckaroo" Bonnie Sawyer and Skip Gilmore who graciously loaned me their VCR tapes of "The Next Generation" when I reached an odd functional impass and didn't get my new-fangled VCR set right.

And a special THANK YOU to Mr. Gene Roddenberry and all the cast and crew members of "The Next Generation" who have proven that lightning can strike twice.

Issue 2

Next Generation Chronicles 2 was published in September 1988 and contains 67 pages.

front cover of issue #2, John Redifer

The sparse illustrations are by John Redifer.

It focuses on the episodes "When the Bough Breaks," "Home Soil," "Coming of Age," "Heart of Glory," "Arsenal of Freedom," "Symbiosis," "Skin of Evil," "We'll Always Have Paris," "Conspiracy," and "The Neutral Zone."

This issue is dedicated to the editor's close friend, Tami Suematsu, who passed away in 1988.

The zine contains a personal letter by Gates McFadden, the actor who portrayed Beverly Crusher.
