newyorkx3, or Anthony, is a traditional fanartist living in Brooklyn, New York[1] who principally draws with markers. Much of his work consists of comics starring My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (MLP:FiM) characters as well as his own original characters, although he also makes non-sequential art and art unrelated to MLP:FiM. His art often features stark colors, architecturally realistic backgrounds, vehicles, and renditions of New York City's neighborhoods.
Many of Anthony's works blend New York life with elements from MLP:FiM. For example, in his comic Twilight Sparkle and the Big City, Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn from the canon of MLP:FiM, is transported to New York City by a train car. newyorkx3 has published photos of places which correspond to locations in his comic[2]. He also draws classic and modern automobiles juxtaposed with the ponies and original characters of his comics.
Anthony held a panel about Twilight and the Big City at Ponycon NYC 2015[3] and held three panels at Ponycon NYC 2016, including a live drawing session and a discussion of his comics Sea Beach Line Incident and Mikey and Karen.[4].
