NORTHSTAR was a queer-focused comics APAzine. In 2003 it merged with The APA That Dare Not Speak Its Name, later called Attitude n’ Sin, into what was first given both names and is now called Pride APA.

NORTHSTAR is what's called an amateur press association - AN APA for short. There are APAs for many different interests. In NORTHSTAR's case, the focus is on comic book fans who happen to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or at least friendly to those groups.

The content of NORTHSTAR comes entirely from its members. The catch-all term for a member's contribution is a "'zine."

The name NORTHSTAR comes, obviously, from the Marvel Comics character, a Canadian superhero, who officially "came out" as gay in the early 90s. Note that our organization existed long before that issue, since we all knew what John Byrne was trying to get across about Jean-Paul in his issues of Alpha Flight.
