Movie-Expo '78, the National Film Society's annual convention, was held at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel on May 25-28, 1978.
It was very much an official industry convention, yet was mentioned in the 1979 essay, Science fiction conventions proved to be like the Australian kangaroo..., as one of three cons that were held at roughly the same time, emphasizing the broadening, and narrowing, of fannish interests.
