Motion of Discovery is a Sentinel story by Rimilod.
Reactions and Reviews
This was a wrenching story. One watches, mesmerized, as the story unfolds, wondering to oneself if one believes it, and telling oneself to wait and see. This was very good; everyone was in character (remember, this is a Jim soon after Murder 101; not all that supportive of Blair). From the opening onwards, one is pulled in. Of course, I would hate it if there wasn't a hopeful ending, but there was, so that's good. So... what do *you* think? [1]
I loved it too. But then I think Dolimir/Rimilod <g> has an amazing grasp of what makes TS work, the characterizations, dialog, the whole Sentinel thing. I'm a big fan of TS slash, usually long dramas or mature stories that weaveand spin and challenge. She (in her gen *and* slash cap) always manages to make me smile, sometimes shed a tear or two (JET's writing wrings the same feelings out of me - but then I love smarm when it's written extremely well. Smarm can fail drastically by a writer who lacks its finesse). When I notice a new story by Dolimir at the Library I drop everything and run to my
printer. [2]
This is actually one of my favorite short stories in the fandom. I loved the "twist" at the end, as it reminded me of my college days (I was in a similar field of study at one time). It was good and angsty, but given where it falls within the canon timeline, I knew (or kept telling myself) that things would eventually work themselves out. Hopeful ending is a good way of putting it. [3]
