The Monster Girl Encyclopedia Wiki is a fandom wiki run at FANDOM for Monster Girl Encyclopedia that also serves as an archive for its members' fanfiction and fanworks.
According to the front page of the wiki, "The Monster Girl Encyclopedia Wiki is the largest and most up-to-date English wiki for the MGE franchise. The wiki was created in March of 2012, and currently has 470 articles."[2]
At one point in its history, the wiki moved to mgewiki.com, but as of October 2018 a note on the wiki's front page indicates the wiki moved back to Wikia (later rebranded as FANDOM).[2]
On November 10, 2021, the wiki was informed that FANDOM would shut it down on November 24.[3] FANDOM was removing wikis covering sexual topics, even if the wikis themselves did not contain sexually explicit material.[4] The news spread across social media, well beyond fans interested in monster girls; one tumblr post had over 45 thousand notes.[5]
According to forum comments, there were plans to move the wiki to Miraheze; further planning would happen in the wiki's discord.[6] Meanwhile, in the forum various fans discussed petitioning FANDOM or backing up the wiki. A post titled Who here hates this? got 145 replies.[7]
