In 2019, students and staff at the University of Central Lancashire released a recreation of the missing 1965 Doctor Who story Mission to the Unknown. The video was released on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel, though it appears the reconstruction was largely unaffiliated with the BBC.

Several former and current Doctor Who cast members got involved, including Peter Purves (Steven Taylor), Edward de Souza (Marc Cory), and the current voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs.
