Millions Knives is the main antagonist of Trigun Stampede, and is the twin brother of Vash the Stampede.

Knives, also called "Nai" by Vash and their adoptive mother Rem Saverem, is an Independent Plant, meaning he is part Plant and part Human. He harbors a deep hatred for humanity, and at one point attempts to wipe out the entire human race aboard the SEEDS Ships where he was born. This hatred stems from discovering the mangled remains of a fellow Independent, Tesla, who was experimented upon and essentially tortured to death by human scientists. It is unclear if Tesla is still alive in her tank, though her eyes (which are shown in a different tank than most of her remains) appear to have 'plant markings,' indicating possible awareness. Most likely, Tesla is dead, as is the case in the manga. Regardless, her horrific state is the catalyst that prompts Knives' attempted genocide.

As a child, Knives is shown to be simultaneously deeply afraid of humans, disgusted by their existence and actions towards Plants, and deeply resentful of his brother's love for them. As an adult, he is shown to be cold, calculating, and prone to violence, even going so far as to take over Vash's mind to force him into Knives' plans for the Plants. Knives wishes above all else to have Vash on his side and for them to create an "Eden" for Plants.

Knives has the highest onscreen kill count of the series (though fans of the series may dispute this depending on who they believe is ultimately responsible for the Julai incident). He commits his kills using his Plant ability: manifesting tendril-like knives and wielding them telekinetically. Commentary from Orange Studios indicated a connection between Knives' ability and Tesla in episode 3, in that Knives' swirling ability forming a dome over a doomed city was analogous to Tesla's "eye."

Despite his intent to eventually kill all humans, Knives is worshiped as a god or angel by the Eye of Michael cult. Notable members include Legato Bluesummers, who fanatically chases Vash and Nicholas D. Wolfwood on behalf of Knives.
