In an interview with Canadian magazine Maclean's, Ramakrishnan explains vernacular her fans use:
"In real high school, I came up with something called “Maitreyimas,” which is on December 28—my birthday. I would joke to my friends that one day it was going to be an international holiday. Now my fans tweet “Merry Maitreyimas” to each other from all around the world. Isn’t that cool?"[1]
