Reactions and Reviews
I'll comment on this trilogy in one lot, since they're all great. The saga follows the heroine and narrator, Llin, through her dealings with Data, then Lore, and finally Doctor Soong. I was thoroughly impressed with these works. Llin is a fascinating character. She's anything but one dimensional-- anyone who's ever BEEN a starship instead of just piloting one merits attention in my book! It's intriguing to see the different ways she reacts to the three men and what her final choice is (don't look at me like that! I'm not going to tell you! Read the stories! Go on! They're well worth the time!) [1]
I have to say I loved the whole series. Well written, good story line (especially because besides being a rabid Data/Lore fan, I also religiously read Anne McCaffrey) and the ending was one hell of a surprise. [2]
This trilogy has a quite interesting idea about intelligence being transferred into a machine--first a spaceship, then a humanoid form. And the heroine gets to hang out with Data, Lore, and Soong, always a plus. There's a lot of chemistry between the characters. Machines III has a special guest appearance by Q. [3]
