'Losing Is An Art' by Miriam Heddy - 9pp. Told in first person Doyle POV, and it is told in retrospection.Doyle is bisexual and wants and loves his partner. It's clearly post 'No Stone' by a little while. Doyle fed up with CI5 deliberately fails the physical and later that evening confesses to Bodie. He then kisses Bodie and then passes out from the alcohol he has consumed. The inevitable happens, not quite immediately, but within hours.
It is nicely told, and we see that no matter what Doyle does, even trying to escape from Bodie, that Bodie will not let him. It's a very good example of just how intertwined their lives are, just how as one they are, and just how deep their friendship and partnership goes. Good characterisation, well written, and I for one could certainly hear Ray telling the story.[1]
