Longshot is a 156-page digest-sized AU gen Supernatural anthology of interrelated short stories written by drumgoddess. It has a color cover art by Jkay. It is a continuation of a story in Rooftop Confessions #1.

Author's Introduction

This a different world, where the butterfly flapped its wings three times, instead of four. we begin in the same place, at the same time, but for different reasons, and for the same reasons, too. these men are who you know, and they are not. they grew all on their own, red wine and red rage had only small roles to play in their nurture, when you read, i hope you will love them as i do. this is not an easy story, if you are looking for softness and light, you've picked up the wrong tale, exposed edges intrigue me, and i look for the finger holds to build houses, these houses built on bones should he viewed as they are . . . where the butterfly landed.

Summaries

...in Rooftop Confessions #1 in this tale it was John who was killed by the YED, and Mary who hunted and raised the boys on her own. This zine includes the first two stories (a total of about 20 pages) and adds 130 pages to finish the saga of this different, but oh so recognizable, Sam and Dean. Part of the allure of the fic is the superb dialogue a la seasons 1&2 -- and the brothers learning to work as a unit much as they did on the show. [1]

Want to read a tale where the brothers are a team and actually speak to one another as they did in seasons 1&2? Are you open to some interesting twists (in this AU John died instead of Mary) and turns? If so, then this is the zine for you! Started in Rooftop Confessions #1, the complete & extended saga is collected here for your reading pleasure. [2]

Contents

Story titles are the first lines from poems by Dylan Thomas, Lord Byron, Juvenal and Emily Dickenson:

  • after the first death, there is no other
  • who watches the watchers?
  • and death, the sable smoke where vanishes the flame
  • once the twilight locks no longer
  • how many the fictitious shores before the harbor lie
  • when, like a running grave, time tracks you down
