Some Excerpts

I wrote very briefly in college many years back. The same month my family received satellite television, we also bought our first home computer. I never enjoyed writing long hand, so the computer opened up an avenue to allow me to write easily.

My first story was a tiny vignette - I hesistate to say deathfic, because it (the death) happened naturally of old age. I found the idea for it when I received one of those annoying little emails, it was too sing song for my taste and I wanted to change the tone and add a little L & C. Lois and Clark were always so connected - I thought even beyond death they would anticipate what the other needed.

I love the interaction between the authors and the readers and the support system is wonderful. Of course, there is the immediate feedback when you post a section of your story....and the nagging to help you continue writing.

Writing fanfic has become an important part of my life. As the mother of five children under thirteen, it helps keep me sane during those times when I need it. Mundane tasks, such as washing dishes, can turn into brainstorming sessions. Grocery store trips have become dialogue plotting excursions, though if I don't write a list, I find myself wandering through the frozen foods for the umpteenth time and still not picking up what I need.

Since starting to write, I'm stretching my brain again. I'm relearning grammar and writing skills, I'm studying new words - it's been a growing experience for me.

But most of all, it's the interaction between the writers and the readers that keep me coming back. I don't think I could just write the stories without these people to share them with. I've also formed some nice friendships over irc and Zoom's boards. So mostly, it's the people.
