Locus is a now-professional magazine for SFF news that started as a fanzine in 1968. Charles N. Brown, Ed Meskys, and Dave Vanderwerf originally founded it to promote Boston's bid to host the 1971 Worldcon, but ended up continuing it as a general SFF newszine.

Locus won the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine and then Bext Semiprozine many times, until the semiprozine category was redefined to exclude Locus in 2012.
