Leisure Hive is a series of Doctor Who fan run conventions held in Swindon, UK. one of the main attractions was a video room where episodes would run day and night.[1] At least three conventions were held, the first one on August 4-5, 1984,[2] another in 1985 and the last in August 1987.

"Those were the days when watching old Doctor Who episodes was something special - a key moment; I remember staying up all night in the video-room at The Leisure Hive conventions in Swindon. There was something so Romantic about that."[3]

"The Leisure Hive conventions in Swindon (1984-1987) had competitions for costume making. So far, so fair, but the nastiest confrontation of the era also occurred in Swindon when the editor of the DWB spoke strongly against the production secretary at her question-and-answer period. Nothing like that happened at an Appreciation Society event, where a certain decorum was observed, but the DWAS now no longer had control over large swathes of fan activity."[4]

"The Leisure Hive 3 convention in Swindon some years ago had an all-night video room. I missed the last train back to London . So, I sat in the video room all night, doing something I considered 'clever', eg. trying to stay awake. The fact that it was not clever is neither here nor there, and I only fell asleep during The Deadly Assassin Part Three (mainly because it was playing at three in the morning), but I do remember quite clearly watching both episodes of The Rescue. Well, I think I do. Anyway, UK Gold have kindly reminded me of it, and do you know, it's not at all bad."[5]

"AN UNCONVENTIONAL WEEKEND....Was had by all last August at the Wiltshire hotel in Swindon when [illegible], one of the country's Doctor Who Fan clubs, held what ought in be the first of their annual conventions. The Leisure Hive....emphasis was very much on leisure and a full report, with photos, in next month's Doctor Who Magazine."[6]
