Contents

  • Introduction (1 page)
  • "Because I Love You, Goodbye" by Jennifer L. Rowland (17 pages) - explores the events surrounding Al's mother's abandonment of her family. And it's not what we, or Al, thought. ("This story, originally written as a four page vignette in April of 1995, was posted to the QL Archive in September of that year. Later, after much prompting by friends and family who felt that there should be more to the story (and after having the ideas bouncing around in my own head), I wrote the rest of the story, which appeared in slightly altered form in the QL Fanzine, LEAPS AND FISHES I: To Write What Once Went Wrong (1996). As with all things, I'd like to thank God first and foremost for the gifts He's given to me. Secondly, I'd like to thank Jenni B. for prompting me in 1995 to share this story on the 'Net, Kat Freymuth for urging me to post the rest of it here in the Archive, my mom for her wonderful support of my writing, and my best friends for prompting me to go on and write the rest of it!! I hope you enjoy "Because I Love You, Goodbye," though I'm sure you can tell from the title that it is not a "happy" story." [1]
  • "The Reality of a Dream" by Jennifer L. Rowland (2 pages)
  • "One Touch" by Julie L. Jekel (2 pages)
  • "Hold On 1: Lead Me to Your Arms" by Julie L. Jekel (9 pages) - the first of two stories exploring how the events in "Mirror Image" changed Al and Beth's life together, this one following Beth from Sam's appearance in her living room to Al's return six years later.
  • "To Walk a Mile" by Gail Christison (14 pages) - Scott Bakula finds himself literally trapped in the life, and Leaps, of his most popular role, Quantum Leap's Sam Beckett.
  • "Meanwhile at PQL: Chick Howell" by Nancy Mathews (6 pages)
  • "Almost An Angel" by Kerry Blackwell (6 pages) - presents the reunion between Al and Theresa Bruckner, the little girl who saw him as an angel in "Another Mother," before Al has even met her for the first time.
  • "Green Eggs and Sam" by Jennifer Beatty (3 pages) - a unique take on the Dr. Seuss classic children's story.
  • "One Leap Over the Moonies" by F. Lee Whaley (13 pages) - Sam leaps into a young man whose father is trying to free him from the influence of a cult. Sam's task is to make sure he succeeds, without getting himself recaptured by the cult or committed to a mental hospital.
  • "Family" by Jennifer Bohn (6 pages) - in which the author explores a brief time in her husband's past through Sam's eyes and speculates on how things could have gone differently.
  • Author Bios (2 pages)
  • Two poems, Jennie's "The Reality of a Dream" and "One Touch" by Julie L. Jekel - express Al's thoughts both during and after his dance with Beth in "MIA."

Reactions and Reviews

[One Leap Over the Moonies]:Sam leaps into what appears to be a brainwashing scenario and the guy who's talking him down is very stern. But it's actually the leapee's father, trying to 'rescue' Sam from the cult. I don't think they'd ever film it, though Scott could do anguished-terrified-and-bemused standing on his head. There'd be complaints from the Moonies for a start. But I thought it was good. [2]
