Lara/Sam is a femslash pairing of Lara Croft and Samantha Nishimura from the Tomb Raider series.
Canon
Sam met Lara in college in their first semester. The two quickly became friends and would often travel together, going to places like China, Africa and local night clubs. And while both often felt out of place sometimes because they were together they always ended up having fun.
At some point Sam told Lara about her family history and ties to the lost Kingdom of Yamatai which prompted Lara to begin looking for the lost kingdom. Lara was soon able to convince her mentor Dr. James Whitman to fund a voyage to look for Yamatai. However, Whitman soon ran into financial difficulties and after learning this Sam offered to help fund the voyage and took on the role of filming the voyage.[1]
Fandom
Lara/Sam is one of the most popular ships in the fandom post-reboot. Their ship name, S.S. Endurance, comes from the actual name of the ship within Tomb Raider that they are traveling on at the start of the game. Some fans use the portmanteau of their names, Salara, instead of or in addition to the other ship name. Many fans of the pairing, as well as fans of Sam's character, were upset that Sam and their whole relationship were left out of the sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider.
