Lacuna is an X-Files story by Aloysia Virgata.

Header

Synopsis: Scully explores her feelings after Milagro while investigating a murder. This ends in RST despite evidence to the contrary.

Spoilers: Through Season Six, Up to Milagro

Trigger Warnings: The casefile involves the murder of little boys, so it can be hard to take at times, but nothing explicit about the murders themselves.

Reactions and Reviews

It should come as no surprise that there are a couple of hundred post-eps for “Milagro” at Gossamer. Of those I’ve read, [this is one of] my favorites. Besides the well-crafted sentences, and realistic forensics, what I like best about this fic is how neatly it slots into canon, for both plot and characterization. I love casefiles that are also X-Files, too. “Lacuna,” which means a missing part or empty space, is a great title for this relationship story.[1]

If you’re not familiar with @aloysiavirgata‘s fic, first of all, where have you been, and second of all, you’re not living your best life. Coincidentally, she was featured last week for FanWorks Wednesdays by @xfilesnews, and while we’re not trying to jump on the AV band wagon or anything (ah, hell…why deny it, @kateyes224 is actually driving the AV band wagon), but you should really go to her AO3 page and binge-read everything she’s ever written, because it’s all fantastic. She’s probably MOST well-known for By Falling In and In and The Common Fate of All Things Rare, and we were hard-pressed to decide which fic of hers to rec first, but we finally decided on today’s fic because it’s a great casefile, plus we kind of have a kink about /Other that may or may not resolve into MSR.[2]
