Lime, as a fanfiction term, is a toned-down version of lemon; a work with non-explicit sexual content. At some point there will be sexual intercourse but it's not shown in the story which usually ends with a fade to black.

"Lemon" and "lime" were defined in a glossary on WhiteCat's World in 2000:

Lemon: Sexually explicit. 'Nuff said. ^^;;;;;; Lime: Hints at sexual content, but all smutt is unseen. ^^;;;
