Character Overview

Kurogane is a ninja from the country of Nihon. He is introduced as a angry, violent man whose princess magically restricts his ability to kill and sends him to another dimension in the hopes that doing so will help his attitude. Over the course of the story, his caring side is revealed, and he ends up forming a makeshift family unit with his fellow travelers and teaching the protagonist to use a sword. He is honest to a fault, extremely loyal, and talented at reading people.

He has a canonically ambiguous but romantically coded relationship with Fai D. Fluorite, and is parental towards Sakura, Syaoran, and Mokona.

Fannish Engagement

As half of the most prominent m/m ship in Tsubasa, Kurogane has attracted a lot of fannish attention. Many fans are extremely fond of him and his story arc, but some of his choices have fallen under criticism. In particular, while some fans find his introduction to be indicative of his character and arc, others object to the fact that he's shown killing a number of people and enjoying it.
