Fandom
The Klonoa fandom has reduced in the 13 years since the last official game release, but is still active, particularly on Deviantart. The February 2022 announcement of Klonoa Phantasie Reverie series has inspired hope in renewed interest in the fandom, and a flood of fanart in the days following the announcement.
The fandom regularly takes part in Smash Campaigning since the early 2010s[1] in hopes of gaining the franchise more mainstream attention, and hopefully, new games. In the official 2015 Smash ballot, Klonoa managed to break into the top 100 with 0.52% of all votes cast[2] coming ahead of more well known characters such as Ryu, and as late as August 2020 was still appearing in polls on r/SmashBrosUltimate.[3]
Ships
Sonic Crossovers
Perhaps due to the similarity in character designs (Colourful, anthropomorphic animals wearing shoes and gloves) there is a significant amount of crossover artwork between the Klonoa and Sonic franchises[4]. This lead to the crossover ship, Guntz/Knuckles,[5] and the character Super Klonoa.[6]
