Kingdom Writers was a zine dedicated to showcasing the diversity of fanfiction in the Kingdom Hearts fandom.

About

On October 25, 2018, the zine's social media account announced themselves with an interest check[1]. The zine was described as follows:

♚—Calling all Kingdom Hearts fans! Do you consider yourself a writer? Do you live for the thrill of the intersection between artistic sensibilities and fandom culture? Do you toss and turn each sleepless night away with the wish that there was a space for all that niche & abstract poetry you’ve written about your favorite intellectual property? Have you ever penned a thousand words of graduate thesis-level analysis on symbolism in pop culture, or delved into the nitty-gritty of thinly-veiled gay subtext? Then this one’s for you!

♚—The aptly-named Kingdom Hearts Writers Zine (actual name TBD) aims to showcase and celebrate the wondrous diversity of writing found within the Kingdom Hearts fandom. With a focus on artistic prose, poetry, fic, and analysis, it exists as an answer to a fandom environment where authors are frequently underrepresented. As of writing, the final product will be digital-format only. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, whether you wish to participate or simply sit back and allow the incredible talent of various authors transport you into the myriad magical realms of the Kingdom Hearts universe, please head on over to this interest check form and hit me with those sweet, sweet suggestions!

♚—With National Novel Writing Month hot on our collective heels, even if this zine garners enough interest the likelihood of it reaching completion before January is slim, but I’ll open applications ASAP once I know the interest is there. It’s a concept I know I’m passionate enough about to see through and I hope others are, too! If you’re interested in helping me mod, drop me a message![1]

The mod of the zine was never named, only listed as "Mod" with an email of the same name as the zine's social media accounts and described to have experience assisting in the organization of a closed Secret Santa event in the fandom[2].

Guidelines of the zine found the project to have permitted ships, so long as the pieces did not contain foul language, graphic depictions of sex or violence, and whichever the mod considered abusive dynamics[3].

The project has not made any updates since a clarification of guidelines on October 26, 2018[4].
