Kingdom Hurts is a zine with a focus on the pain and tragic experiences the characters go through in the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

The project opened its Twitter account in late March 2019, and ran a now deleted Tumblr account[1]. The zine would be released in print and later in PDF format after shipping printed copies, and all contributors would receive a print copy of the zine. The project also permitted official ships or any relationships that did not go beyond canon[2].

The project opened applications for artists and writers on April 1, 2019[3]. Applications were expected to close on May 6th, but the deadline was extended to May 16th[4]. Acceptance emails were sent out on May 19, 2019[5].

Followers on Twitter voted on a week-long poll to decide the charity to donate the proceeds of the zine, of which The Trevor Project won[6].

Orders opened on May 16, 2020, as a digital only zine[7]. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project would drop plans to make a physical version of the zine. The digital book was sold by itself for $10 USD, and a book with digital images of merchandise illustrations was sold for $12.50 USD. Customers could pay more money to contribute to the project's chosen charity. In the last ten days of digital sales, the zine announced that they would also be donating proceeds to the Homeless Black Trans Woman Fund[8]. Sales closed on June 30, 2020[9].
