Preface
From the editor's preface:
Some considerable time ago when Janet Flowers and I were busy printing a newsletter, we discussed many plots for Star Trek stories which we were both far too busy to actually write up. I was clearing out recently when I came across some notes I made at that time for a story, which on examination I thought might adapt nicely to a short story.' This is the result ..... part one, and we haven't even gotten out of the Orion Arm yet! For anybody having trouble following the route, I recommend the Star Fleet Technical Manual, which gives a clear map showing the shape of the Galaxy, the names of the Arms and the whereabouts of the 'Shapley Zone of Intense Radiation'- i.e., in the middle! The story is set directly after the events in 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture.'
