A wrenching short story that follows Bashir and O'Brien through the last minutes of their lives. Should ever these two characters be killed off, I want them to go out like they did in this story. While I was initially a little shocked by the revelation of their ultimate fates--as well as the fates of the Defiant and her crew--after it sank in, I thought this was so very vintage DS9--bold, daring, different.
