The story was published in September 2015 by Aralias in Pride and Prejudice, a Blake's 7 zine.
Reactions and Reviews
I like that this is both a decent, competent Blake plan (start an avalanche to deal with the troops! (if, as Avon says, he knew what he was doing)), and it's back fired and screwed him over, and that (with or without his knowledge, given that he couldn't predict the plan would go awry, but might have known it might) the plan/his survival relies on Avon's decency.[1]
This is really great! Great dialogue, great setup. Some nice understated moments that still feel like shocks, like Avon thinking that it could only be more intimate if they were naked. I like that Avon isn't particularly experienced, sexually, and thinks that Blake probably is.[2]
Very nice. The trope is well used and the scenario feels like a moment taken out of the show. I like the insight given into Blake's family and loss of memories, and the contrast with Avon's terse description of his own family situation (which very little information, but suggests so much). I like too that they're interrupted before anything can happen, but of course the tension continues, and they both fail to really acknowledge it.[3]
really good cave fic :D i like both that the cave/the situation allows them to relax slightly and that it does change things, but also that once they're out of that situation they aren't able to relax in the same way and confront each other properly. that said - the end feels quite hopeful (for me- i think i am quite a hopeful reader) in that there's still the same intimacy and nothing needs to be said... because it could easily happen again. also - it's clever that the kissing ... is important, but not actually the intimacy that the fic is about: with everything that had already happened, it seemed like hardly any sort of step at all. and that's a really nice idea in this fandom world of sex equals true love, penetrative sex equals the realest sex etc. the most important stuff is blake getting avon to admit (sort of) that he likes it on the liberator.[4]
