If You've Got Wings is a for-profit zine focused on the My Hero Academia character Hawks.

About

This zine is a SFW zine focusing on Hawks and his daily life as a hero and the friendships he builds with others. Romantic relationships may be included, but it will not be the focus.[1]

Applications

Interest check and mod applications for the zine was open from July 15, 2018 July 16, 2018. A total of four mods were announced on July 18, 2018. Later listings only show murph and kise as mods.

Contributor applications were open to both artists and writers from July 23, 2018 to August 23, 2018. A reported total of 227 people applied for artist and merch artist positions, and 27 writers applied[2]. The initial lineup of contributors were announced on September 30, 2018.

Preorders

Preorders opened on November 11, 2018 and closed on January 1, 2019 through Big Cartel. The pricing tiers were as follows:

  • Book Only (Digital) ($15 USD) - PDF Zine
  • Book Only (Physical) ($25 USD) - Physical Zine
  • Feather Blades ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, 1 Charm, 3 Buttons, 2 Prints
  • Fierce Wings ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, 1 Sticker Sheet, 2 Double-sided Charms, 1 Print
  • Merch Bundle ($45 USD) - 3 Prints, 3 Charms, 3 Buttons, 2 Sticker sheets, 1 Enamel Pin
  • Pro Hero: Hawks ($70) - PDF Zine, Physical Zine, 3 Prints, 3 Charms, 3 Buttons, 2 Sticker Sheets, 1 Enamel Pin

The enamel pin was an additional item for reaching a stretch goal of 100 orders.

An giveaway of a free physical copy of the zine was announced on the day preorders opened. The winner of this giveaway was announced to be a fan by the name of ttouya-todoroki on December 22, 2018.

Shipping

On February 21, 2019, the mods announced they would be unable to meet the promised shipping deadline at the end of February due to complications.

Due to complications arising from both the new year and the polar vortex, there were several delays in production that slowed the Hawks Zine down. As previously mentioned, we are committed to getting everything out to our customers. Unfortunately, it seems that shipping out orders before the end of February will be impossible. Currently, all orders have been placed and, in terms of merch, we have stickers and buttons. We are currently aiming for mid-March and will be posting updates as things arrive.[3]

Physical bundles began shipment on March 19, 2019, while PDF copies began delivery on March 28, 2019. Leftover sales opened on May 4, 2019 and closed on June 30, 2019.
